Samaneh Zandian is a lecturer in Language Education at Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh, UK. Originally, she comes from Iran, where she worked as an English language teacher of young learners. Her research interests are primarily focussed on intercultural communication, social psychology and processes of adaptation in relation to child sojourners and raising intercultural awareness in language classrooms. She is also interested in exploring the advantages and limitations of using innovative participatory research methodologies with children. Her most recent publication is a book chapter, ‘Constructing Joint Understanding of Research with Children’ in, ‘Ethical and Methodological Issues in Researching Young Language Learners in School Contexts’, edited by A. Pinter and K. Kuchah, and published by Multilingual Matters.
